General Questions
Autlo is an app to pay for parking. You can use Autlo manually or teach your car to pay for parking.
Autlo advantages are:
Accurate parking area maps. You can verify on the map, if phone GPS is correct and that you are in the right parking zone.
Wide automation. As an addition to regular reminders, you can activate automation, which starts or ends parking sessions for you. Automation works even if you are speaking on the phone.
Free parking time. Did you know that there is free parking time in many private parking areas? Parking clock is automatic (no need to add it manually).
Autlo works across Estonia in all cities (Tallinn, Tartu, Pärnu etc) and with all parking operators (Europark, Ühisteenused, Citypark etc).
Besides on-street and open parking areas, you can use Autlo also in many parking houses.
Other countries: Autlo works also in Latvia, Lithuania and Belgium.
Payment options are:
Bankcard. Mastercard or Visa; both debit and credit. The parking fee will be charged after parking is completed.
Prepayment. Automatic recharge from bank card when the balance reaches zero. The lowest service fees!
Monthly billing for companies. Parking fees are aggregated and billed on a monthly basis. Check out its pros or to sign an agreement, write autlo@autlo.com.
To set it up, open Autlo app menu "Payment method".
The parking price and available discounts are set by the city or the parking operator. Price calculation via Autlo is the same as using a parking machine, mobile payment, etc.
• paying with a bank card or with a business customer monthly invoice - 39 cents, min 8%;
• paying with a prepaid account - 29 cents, min 8%.
Some car parks have a reduced or no service fee. You can see the exact price and service fee if you open the app and choose the corresponding parking zone.
If there is a free parking time, we will calculate it automatically, ie the parking payment will start after the free time has elapsed. If a parking clock is required, you will see it in the Autlo app, when starting the session.
Parking on street and in open parking areas
When parking on the streets and in open parking areas, you can choose between three different usage options:
Parking start
1. Manual start
You start the payments manually.
Works as any ordinary parking app.
2. Clever notifications
Autlo sends a notification if there is a paid zone nearby.
You have to confirm the payment manually.
3. Automatic start
Autlo starts the payment automatically and sends you a notification that parking is started.
You can cancel or change in the first 1 minute for free.
NB! Please make sure that the automatically chosen zone is correct! If GPS is inaccurate and the wrong zone is chosen (and you do not correct it manually), you will get a fine. The statistics show that with today's phones and their GPS accuracy, the correct zone is chosen in about 90% of the cases and in about 10% of the times you have to correct it manually.
Parking stop
1. Manual stop
You stop the payments manually.
Works as any ordinary parking app.
2. Clever notifications
Autlo sends a notification if you drive away and parking remained active.
You have to confirm the payment stop manually.
3. Automatic stop
Autlo stops the payment automatically and you get a notification with a parking summary.
You can always stop the payment manually.
The usage mode can be selected in the Autlo app menu under "Settings".
Autlo clever automation requires a corresponding trigger. The options are:
1. Phone and car Bluetooth connection.
Autlo app monitors phone and car Bluetooth connection and:
a) when a connection is lost, then parking has started;
b) when a connection is restored, then parking has ended.
Bluetooth advantages are that it is free, and one car can have several users. You can expect more battery and data consumption. When phone battery is running low some phones may go into battery-saving mode and deactivate all apps in the background. This means the Bluetooth automation will not work with an empty battery.
2. Car device, such as Autlo OBD device or FleetComplete device.
The device sends parking data directly to Autlo (independent from your phone).
Device advantages are that it does not consume phone battery, and works when the phone battery is empty or the phone is not present. A disadvantage is you can only tie the car with one user. The device can be ordered (includes learning more about installation and compatibility) on the device page.
The automation trigger can be set in the Autlo app menu under "Vehicles".
Autlo counts free parking time automatically. This means, that a parking fee will be added only after free time runs up.
If you have to insert a parking clock or if we can count it automatically, depends on the parking operator and is written on the app screen, if you select the parking zone. For example, free parking time is counted automatically in Tallinn, Tartu, and Ühisteenused. A parking clock is required in Pärnu and Europark.
Autlo service fee applies also if you park only during the free time. If you do not want to pay and are sure, that you leave before paid time starts, then you can insert a clock, or in case you use automatic parking start, cancel the parking. Parking can be canceled within the first minute, canceled parking costs nothing.
Autlo app counts free parking time automatically and when paid time ends, parking fee does not increase.
If you start parking in the free time, then because Autlo does not know, if you will leave before paid time or not and to to verify correct zone, parking is started immediately. It happens also in parking operators central systems and costs regular mobile payment fee 32 cents. Parking fee counter will start after free time ends.
If you are sure you will drive away before paid time starts, you can cancel the parking in the app on the front screen.
Parking can be canceled within the first minute, canceled parking costs nothing.
No, free and limited parking spaces are not covered, due to lack of a central database. In addition, land owners in some places want to make sure you manually enter their door (where is the booth to register the car plate).
Parking in parking houses and in gated areas
How Autlo works in parking garages and parking lots with barriers, depends on the on-site parking equipment. The options are:
1. Opening the barrier / gate manually.
You drive behind the gate, open the Autlo app, select the parking lot and start parking manually.
For example, PalmGrupp or Lasnamäe Medicum.
2. Parking houses without barriers.
In car parks without a barrier, Autlo works in the same way as in normal outdoor and on-street parking lot (see previous FAQ Parking on street and in open parking areas).
For example, Viru Center or Pärnu mnt 22.
With Autlo, you can use all the same discounts as with regular parking ticket.
To add a discount:
1. Open Autlo app.
2. Select "Add discount".
If parking is active, the button is visible on the opening screen.
If parking has ended, open History and press on the according parking.
NB! The discount can be added only on the same day until 10PM.
3. Give permission to use the phone camera.
4. Scan applicable code, like a barcode on a purchase cheque or a QR code on a validator.
If you have previously denied the camera permission, then you can assign it again:
In Apple phone:
1. Open Settings → Privacy → Camera.
2. Allow Autlo.
In Android phone:
1. Open Settings → Apps & notifications → Autlo → Permissions.
2. Allow Camera.
Solving common issues
You can change the language:
in Apple phone: open Autlo app -> Settings -> Language -> select desired language and press "Done".
in Android phone: open phone Settings -> System -> Languages & input -> Languages and move the preferred language as the first. If the desired language is missing, select Add a language, find the desired language and move it as the first in the list.
To change vehicles, open menu and Vehicles (or on the front screen press on the licence plate).
To delete the existing vehicle, select "Delete".
To add a new vehicle, select "+" (in the upper right corner) and insert new licence plate.
The app supports multiple active vehicles. To change the current vehicle, press arrows near the plate or swipe it right / left.
If you have a monthly pass, resident or any other permit, contact us at autlo@autlo.com and we will disable the payment in this zone.
By default, active parking will be reminded by push notification once a day. You can adjust the frequency in Autlo app → Settings → General → Active parking reminder.
If you do not get notifications at all, you probably have disabled them in the phone settings. This is how to activate:
Apple phone:
1. Open Settings → Notifications → Autlo.
2. Check that notifications are enabled.
If notifications were already enabled, delete the app and reinstall.
Android phone:
1. Open phone Settings → Apps → App info → Autlo → Notifications.
2. Check that notifications are enabled.
If you use Huawei phone, please give battery optimization access:
Android 7: open Settings → Apps → Settings → Special access → Ignore optimisations → All apps → Autlo → allow (turn on).
Android 8: open Settings → Apps & notifications → Apps → Settings → Special access → Ignore battery optimization → Autlo → allow running at the background.
Android 9: open Settings → Battery usage → App Launch → Autlo → disable Manage automatically.
If this does not help, let us know at autlo@autlo.com and we will help.
Automatic parking works, when set up and when the phone battery is charged. If the battery is emptying and the phone goes to a low power mode, Autlo app automation will not work until the phone is charged again (because location, internet usage and background apps will be closed by the phone). Meaning, if the phone goes to low power mode, you have to start and end parking in the app manually (or use the car device, which works independently from the phone).
If the automation does not work at all, several reasons could be the cause:
1. Automation is not set up. Open the app menu Vehicles and make sure, that Bluetooth is added. Also check in Settings, that automation is enabled.
2. Bluetooth is off. Check phone screen to confirm Bluetooth is constantly on.
3. Bluetooth does not connect to the vehicle. Check car screen that Bluetooth is connected (usually car central screen shows mobile connection strength).
4. Internet is missing or weak. Check internet connection, including mobile data without WiFi.
Other reasons, if you have an Apple phone:
1. Autlo app is prohibited from accessing GPS location. Open Settings → Autlo → Location, which must be Always.
2. Notifications are turned off. Open Settings → Notifications → Autlo and check that notifications are enabled.
If all seems ok but still does not work, then delete the app and reinstall it again.
Other reasons, if you have an Android phone:
1. Phone GPS location is missing. Open Settings → Location and check, that location is on and that mode is High accuracy.
2. Phone battery optimization permit is missing. Open Settings → Battery → right top *** → Power-saving exceptions → Autlo must be enabled.
3. Notifications are turned off. Open Settings → Apps → App info → Autlo → Notifications and check that notifications are enabled.
If you use Huawei phone, please give battery optimization access:
Android 7: open Settings → Apps → Settings → Special access → Ignore optimisations → All apps → Autlo → allow (turn on).
Android 8: open Settings → Apps & notifications → Apps → Settings → Special access → Ignore battery optimization → Autlo → allow running in the background.
Android 9: open Settings → Battery usage → App Launch → Autlo → disable Manage automatically.
If this does not help, let us know at autlo@autlo.com and we will help.
At street and in open parking areas, manual parking and Bluetooth based automation works only with a working phone. If the battery is dead, set the phone to charge, open the app and start or end the parking manually. IE same way, as with mobile parking.
An exception is automation with the car device, which works independently from the phone and parking is started and ended even when the phone is switched off. Decisions made can be seen and changed only in the app, when the phone is working.
In parking houses and other gated areas, Autlo works based on licence plate recognition and therefore also if the phone is off or absent.
There can be several reasons.
First, please verify the entered car license plate is correct. You can see the selected licence plate on the app front screen and under parking history.
Next, please verify the selected parking area is correct. The GPS location given by your phone or car device can sometimes be in another zone nearby and in this case you have to correct it manually.
In those cases the final decision will be done by parking operator, whose contacts are marked on the fine.
If the car and parking area are correct, there can be problems with selected payment method or some technical error has occurred. In this case please turn to Autlo support at autlo@autlo.com.
